Mia Irwin

Mia Irwin is a freelance Scenic Designer based in New York City. Mia holds an MFA from The Pennsylvania State University in Scenic Design, and a BA in Theatre Arts and a Minor in Art and Design from the University of Northern Colorado.

Recent design credits include the Scenic Designs for Vanities: The Musical at Meadow Brook Theatre, and little rock at SUNY Geneseo. She currently works part time as a Studio Assistant for Derek McLane.

Other credits include the Scenic Designs for Beauty and The Beast at Cortland Repertory Theatre, Twelfth Night at Northern Stage, Grease at SUNY Geneseo, Almost Heaven and Every Brilliant Thing at Little Theatre of the Rockies, Double Trouble at Bristol Valley Theatre, and Penn State Centre Stage for Into the Woods, Metamorphoses, and The Wild Party (Lippa).

Mia has received the USITT Scene Design Award Sponsored by Rose Brand and the Penn State College of Arts and Architecture Creative Achievement Award in Theatre. Her design of Metamorphoses placed first in the USITT Design Expo Scenic Design category, was awarded second place in the Penn State Graduate Exhibition in the Design category, and was featured in the Summer 2023 edition of the Theatre Design and Technology (TD&T) magazine.
